The highly-anticipated Wine Appreciation and Networking Event took place on Saturday, 5 March, at Praelum Wine Bistro.
Praelum was one of seven establishments with a Silver standard wine list, receiving a special mention on Wine & Dine Magazine in 2015. It was an intimate session of 16 participants with a balanced gender turnout. Facilitated by Divine Connect’s Cindy Leong, the workshop is Divine Connect and Love Express’s first ever joint event.
Guided by wine enthusiast (and head of Praelum) Gerald Lu, the participants were taken through the blind tasting of 5 different types of red wine originating from the US, Italy, France and Australia. Of course, the sommelier did not just leave them guessing: each participant was given a tasting sheet as a guide for the wines and taught how to recognise the wine origins. A table rotation took place after each tasting, and with the swirl of the exotic wines and tinkling conversations, everyone had a sparkling time indeed. To add to the delightful atmosphere, Gerald also prepared a secret wine for the group.
Not only did the participants walk away with a deeper appreciation for wine, they were also treated to a lovely surprise of a bottle of fine wine aged over 12 years to wrap up the event. It really was liquid perfection accompanied by crackers and a curated selection of cheese.
As the authority of wine Michael Broadbent once said, “Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures”. The session saw just that, and Love Express and Divine Connect would like to extend great thanks to the hospitality from Praelum Wine Bistro and the bubbling enthusiasm from all the participants.
